What Is Karma and How to be Free of The Karmic Cycle

Karma is that inherent ingredient of cosmic system which acts as accountant general of whole cosmos! Keeping record of every single action by every living being is the sole purpose of karma! From very birth karma is ingrained into every living being including human beings! We just cannot do without karma... even if we remain idle!

Every single thought that flows to our brain forms part of karma! Every single action... physical or mental constitutes part of karma! It is through the process of karma we evolved in the cosmic system! In absence of karma evolution process would just become inert... decay and die its natural death!

For the system to keep going... for human beings to evolve... the process of karma was necessitated... ordained by God Almighty! In the first place... why did karma exist in the cosmic system? Ever since every soul atman started its cosmic journey... it got mired in impurities similar as a rolling ball gathers moss.

To cleanse self of the dross impurities within starts the cosmic life cycle of every soul atman. It is through the complex process of karma... life moved from one manifestation to another unhindered... unrestricted! Whatever the residual balance of karma of present manifestation at the time of death of body becomes the opening balance for next manifestation.

If at the time of death we existed at karmic index of 7.300999 then the next manifestation by our soul atman would be at a karmic index of 7.300999. For a soul atman that needs manifesting at karmic index of 7.300999 and matching parents are not available ... then soul atman hibernates either in heaven or hell.

In heaven if the residual balance of karma is positive and hell if negative! Both heaven and hell exist in sun... heaven in center of sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade and hell in periphery where temperatures are considerably less! Heaven is termed swarga in Hinduism and hell... Naraka!

To understand what is karma? We need to dive deep into bottomless pit of wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism! It is only by enacting karma... positive or negative... human beings finally lived life! In absence of karma the whole cosmic system would simply become inert. Life moves from one manifestation to another through the complex process of karma.

At the time of death of body no physical manifestation moves to next life! Based on residual karmic balance... the soul atman manifests another body and starts a new journey of life! If we desire release from karmic cycle of birth and death... we have to travel spiritual path and reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana)! We have no other alternative... no matter what!

Only by traveling spiritual path... only by becoming an enlightened one human beings finally cut across all barriers of karma. Karma is required to be burnt in entirety... just by touching feet of wife and child one does not absolve self from karma! Siddhartha Gautama faulted at this point for which his spiritual journey got prolonged. Gautama Buddha finally gained enlightenment in the last stages of his life when he was nearing 81 year!

By leaving the confines of our house... we do not burn karma! The prime reason why millions of sadhus (religious mendicants) loitered all over India at religious places in search of God! As they could not burn their karma in entirety... they were far from nearing their goal of life! Karma just cannot be burnt by running away from home!

We have to complete our family duties in totality! Only then permission may be granted for our spiritual pursuit by every single member in house! Unless we become free of family liabilities... unless everyone in house permitted us for spiritual journey... we just cannot run away from home and seek God! Permission is required to be granted by each and every individual member irrespective of age! Even if one is two years age... we have to seek ones permission!

In 1993, the moment I realized God I wanted to leave the confines of house forever! I asked God Almighty... what now? The inner voice told me there were two paths to be followed... one the path of Mahavira (24 Tirthankara of Jainism... preceptor) and the other of Gautama Buddha!

Mahavira... the 24 Tirthankara of Jainism gained enlightenment at 42 years of age. Having gained enlightenment for full 30 years Mahavira preached what he had learnt on spiritual path! At 72 years of age Mahavira finally left his mortal frame. On the contrary Gautama Buddha gained enlightenment at 80~81 years of age. By that time his body had become absolutely frail!

Even while remaining in family Gautama Buddha could not find God. Neither living in confines of deep dense jungles (forests) could Buddha find God. Ultimately Gautama Buddha preached the middle path... neither to the left or right... neither living in family or extreme confines of forests could one find God... hence follow the middle path!

I finally chose the path taken by Mahavira. Ever since 1993, I have been preaching wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism to world community through medium of Internet! My karma having dissolved forever... I have become a pure soul atman (a soul is termed atman in Hinduism)! My pursuing spiritual path had a purpose. The moment I complete that job I shall leave my mortal frame! This is my last life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation!

The moment karma is burnt in entirety... one finally reached last leg of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation when human beings gained enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha)! Reaching end of cosmic life is the goal of every soul atman. Prompted by a bloated ego most human beings pursued material goal of life!

Whatever the goal of present life, the cosmic goal of life always remains fixed... reaching 8.4 millionth manifestation at the earliest! Gaining enlightenment is the end goal for every form of life on mother earth! Human form being the highest manifest stage in cosmic life cycle... it is only in human form our soul atman finally liberated self from cycle of birth and death forever!

It is through wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita... the essence of karmic theory becomes clear to one! If we truly desire freeing self from shackles of Samsara (worldly life)... we have to establish absolute control over five senses and mind... only then can we cut across shackles of karma forever! Gaining enlightenment is our birthright... the only ultimate goal of life!

Until one reached 8.4 millionth manifestation... we just cannot free ourselves from bondage of karma! Existence of karma proves presence of dross impurities within soul atman! The moment last trace of karma removed from soul atman... the purified soul atman finally regained its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form!

The purified soul atman after salvation moksha finally entered abode of God (termed Vaikuntha in Hinduism)... a point of no return! Once complete dross impurities within soul atman removed... the need for soul atman to manifest a new body ceased to exist! Manifestation of karma was necessitated as long as dross impurities existed within soul atman... never otherwise!
